Mistakenly the Akashic Records are believed to provide the right answer, instead:
The Akashic Records support connection to trust personal truth.
“Damn! All I want is the answer!”
I hear this often from friends, clients, and students. I see the frustration and the confusion and the disgust clearly on their faces. I can hear the anguish and the anger in their voices.
I often feel the same way. There is just so much and some days all the self-help techniques, the affirmations, the gratitude lists, the spiritual meditation, the wholistic breathing – whatever – just don’t answer the demand in the moment to be clear, to be aware, to be certain. Sometimes, no matter what gets done, the path forward is unseen and the difference between this bad choice and that worse choice is incomprehensible.
Underlying this situation is the belief in the right answer.
The answer that solves the problems, forestalls all challenge, and fixes all that matters. The right answer is seen as the end goal for solving all trouble in life. Without the right answer, nothing makes sense and those mountains of misfortune are insurmountable.
The idea of many self-help and spiritual books is to describe the surefire steps to follow to receive the right answer.
Many believe that the Akashic Records are a source for the right answer. Many misconceptions have both contributed to and developed from this misunderstanding.
It’s one of the primary conditions of humanity: to know, to be certain, to get the right answer. Follow these ten steps, then all will be well. Then re-trace steps and find the goofs because if the steps are followed correctly, then the right answer appears. This puts the missteps on your shoulders and holds you responsible for systemic failure. The right answer is there if you are competent.
But, hello?!! Stop and think about the assumptions contained within those easy steps:
1. You are not enough. If you were enough, then you could easily figure out the problem, get the answer, and make a plan. By enough I mean not smart enough, not spiritual enough, not thoughtful enough – not whatever enough! You don’t have what it takes to get the job done because . . .
2. You are not an expert about you. Someone other than you is the expert and has the information you should want. When you are not your own expert . . .
3. Your truth is outside of you. You can only find truth by finding an expert to tell you the necessary steps to solving your problem and finding the right answer. When those steps don’t work . . .
4. You don’t trust yourself. If the promised easy steps don’t deliver the answer, you take it as personal failure. You lose confidence in yourself, making trusting yourself truly troublesome. Failure reinforces this experience that . . .
5. Without trust, fear dominates. No answers, no steps that work, without trust in yourself, fear steps up and takes the reins, pulling you down into concern, worry, and failure.
In fear, here’s how you define yourself and your life:
You aren’t enough,
You’re not an expert about your life,
You must look outside of yourself to experts for the necessary steps,
You live in fear that you will never get it right, so
You go from teacher to guru to expert searching for the right answer.
Early in life, I spent a lot of time in this endless circle. Sometimes life will still kick me off into a frantic search. I have been able to get myself out of this endless circling because one day I realized the inherent fallacy in the whole mess of self-help fads, spiritual simplicity, and religious dogma:
There are no guaranteed easy steps because:
There is no such thing as the right answer.
No! There is never just one answer that exists somewhere out there waiting for your retrieval if you are smart enough, or aware enough, or spiritual enough.
Perhaps if human beings were one-celled and two-dimensional, there would be only one choice to make in any moment. The reality is that people are complex beings with more than five senses.
We are multi-dimensional across an integrated physical-spiritual expression with awareness body, mind, heart, and soul. The search for the right answer is pointless because of human complexity and the inherent ambiguity of life.
The search for the one right answer is what sends you out of yourself searching, hoping to be good enough to find the solution, the steps, the whatever that provides answers and fixes the problems of life.
Combined with this meaningless search is a willingness to deny that life is more than yes or no, wrong or right, bad or good. The effort to turn every aspect of life into this simple decision of one or the other is what fuels the blind desire for the right answer and begins the endless search. The entire system is fixed to convince you that the truth is NOT within you. The search for the simple steps of life success ignores the fundamental ambiguity of everyday life.
Life can’t always be reduced to yes or no. Life offers multiple layers from which to live and learn. Easy, complicated, tough, raw – the human experience offers a rainbow of opportunity and challenge. You reduce yourself to an automaton when you accept self-help dictums to find the right answer from approved experts.
Like many authentic spiritual traditions and legitimate self-support efforts, the Akashic Records have been stuck in the simplicity of a book in a heavenly library, of Hindu origin, where, if you either find the right Akashic Record Reader or learn the right entry method, all your troubles will be fixed, and you will find that illusive right answer. Problem solved. Next. Repeat.
The easy choice keeps you stuck in the endless circle of despair that you will never find the right answer.
Until one day, like me, you will either get fed up or the pain of the endless runaround will become too much, and you will make a choice to remove yourself from the rat race. You’ll come home to yourself, and you’ll get real with yourself about how you want to live your life. You will choose for you, by you, instead of deferring to outside authority. You, not some expert, will live your life.
Going beyond easy, let’s get real about this:
Life is wonderful, and fun, and hard, and frustrating, and doesn’t go according to expectation. Life is choice. Life is learning. Life is yours.
Now, I’m going to say something which has become a bit cliché:
Your truth is within you.
Wait! Hear me out!
The reason there is no right answer isn’t because life is hard. Life can be hard AND fun and complicated and wonderful and all those things. But, that’s not really the point.
There is no right answer because the point isn’t about answers. The point is you and how you make choices about yourself and your life. That’s a process of finding what’s truthful within you and learning to trust yourself and your process. You may read a book or seek out ideas from a teacher, but you do so, or are learning to do so, from the perspective that:
You are more than enough.
You know yourself better than anyone.
You trust yourself and can take steps to expand this trust,
You don’t let fear guide your life, and
You don’t need to KNOW everything because you trust yourself to LEARN what you need in the moment.
In the space of doubt and mistrust, eager steps forward based on a source of information said to contain all events, past, present, and future is an enticing prospect. Within this source are answers which come from information about past life experience and can also offer specific, predictive information. This information source described as a book in a heavenly library holds your right answer. It’s offered as both a source accessible only by experts and yet sometimes learnable by regular folks.
All of this describes what many believe the Akashic Records to be. The perfect place for your right answer. The perfect source of instruction to solve life’s dilemmas.
Yes and no.
Yes, the Akashic Records are a source of information – and much more.
No, in the sense that much more is available from the Akashic Records than facts about events or right answers. There are many truths when it comes to life and to the Akashic Records. The search for easy prefers to break everything down to the dualism of yes-no and right-wrong.
Stepping beyond yes-no, find the richness of life and realize that within this richness there are no guarantees. You are going to have to do your work, risk, be vulnerable, and let go of the illusion of control.
Stepping into the unknown is scary – at first.
In releasing the push for the right answer, space to build personal trust opens allowing you to live life making choices for yourself. You are learning to hear from your heart and trust the choices you make.
Not everything will work as expected. There will be times you’ll have to go back to the drawing board, re-think, and feel into new possibility. This happens because you are learning how – how to trust, to learn, to listen, to choose. This is not easy. Challenging you on every level and sometimes knocking you over. But the effort you make increases your awareness. When you realize you can release the demand for perfection, self-trust will help uncover the choice in the moment, moving you forward in life.
No longer in search of the proverbial right answer, you begin to understand that the Akashic Records aren’t so much a thing as a connective process to access trust of personal truth.
The intention of the Akashic Records is not to take on the role of the expert of your life. Instead, the Akashic Records provide a process of discovery and revelation which supports self-understanding, trusting self to learn and explore, developing the confidence to choose your next steps in life. Additionally, it is not the intention of the Akashic Records to create a dependent relationship, one in which you feel you must always connect in order to know how to live your life.
I know this from firsthand experience. Initially, I thought I had found a spiritual teacher of sorts, who would save me from myself by giving me the right answer in times of need and misfortune. Instead through the knowing, healing, and spiritual practice provided, I found the depths of me, and I learned how to trust myself to choose my best path forward.
My relationship with the Akashic Records is more like a discussion with a group of very wise friends, rather than idolized authority. Opening my Records or receiving an Akashic Record Reading is an experience of hearing words which connect me with the truth within me – a truth that I seek but, until the moment of revelation, I have not been able to connect with or articulate.
Over time, I have seen thousands develop a similar relationship. One that opens self to self. One which supports a process of connection and alignment with personal truth. Gone is dependence on the right answer, opening the way towards independence, self-determination, and the belief in self to live fully, able to meet challenge as it appears.
