Setting Intention as Spiritual Practice

All spiritual practice moves from and is supported by intention.

This practice is a simple way to help yourself identify intention for yourself and your life.

Following these steps is also a great way to take inventory of where you feel you are, what you want to let go, and where you would like to go.

Use this process focused in either a general way or towards a specific issue or challenge.

  1. Answer the following questions:
What do I want to learn about myself right now?
Where and how do I receive my strongest lessons – what issues, settings, people?
Where or how do I want to open myself more fully?
What do I want to let go?
  2. Based on these answers, I set my intention as follows:
    I want to release:
    I want to learn:
I want to incorporate or integrate:
I want my next step to be:
  3. Re-visit your responses in several days or a week. Look at where you are, what you have accomplished and where you would like to go.
  4. Repeat steps one through three as needed to help yourself consciously identify and set intention.
