Motion

Nothing is still — everything is in motion.

“The field of energy that holds the chair and you and the room and the building and the earth is in constant movement.” — The Unknown Road

Nothing that is stuck is actually still.

Motion is one of the foundational characteristic of energy

Motion is one of the foundational characteristic of energy — movement, the awareness that energy flows. Motion is both exactly what it sounds like and much more, because motion is not limited to what your eyes can see.

The chair you are sitting in appears perfectly still. But nothing is still. The chair is composed of atoms in constant movement. The energy holding those atoms in relationship is in constant movement. The field of energy that holds the chair and you and the room and the building and the earth is in constant movement. Stillness is an appearance, not a fact. Underneath everything that seems fixed, energy is always flowing.

Motion is the first of energy’s three characteristics, inseparable from intention and knowing. And motion and energy cannot be pulled apart: where there is energy, there is motion; where there is motion, there is energy. They do not exist without each other. To say everything is energy is also to say everything is moving — including what looks most solid, most settled, most still.

Soul Emergence Dynamics Re-frame

From the mind’s perspective, motion is the exception. Things are basically at rest, and motion is a force applied to move a still object from here to there — a disturbance of a default stillness.

Soul Emergence Dynamics reverses default and exception.

Motion is the ground state; stillness is the illusion.

Energy is always emerging, always flowing from potential toward form and back toward potential, never pausing. There is no resting state that motion interrupts — motion is what energy is.

This has a quiet, liberating consequence: if everything is always in motion, then nothing is ever truly fixed. What feels permanent in your life — a pattern, a belief, a story about who you are — is energy that appears still, the way the chair appears still. Look closer and it is moving. And what is moving can shift. Nothing that is stuck is actually still.

Word Nerd

Motion comes from Latin motio, a moving, from movere, to move, to set in motion, from the Proto-Indo-European root meue-, to move, to push away. The root spreads into move, motive, momentum, remove — and, tellingly, emotion. Emotion is e- (out) plus movere: a moving out, a stirring-up, energy set in motion through you. So the word agrees with the teaching: motion is not only the movement of objects in space.

Motion is the movement of feeling, of energy, of life itself. Your emotions are motion — energy moving out and through. And because motion is the nature of energy, to be moved, to feel, to shift is not a disturbance of your stillness. Movement is what you are made of.
