There is joy in the motion.
There are five questions I think of as the creative questions, and the first is always the same: What IS?
For the soul's journey the asking becomes: What is soul? What is journey? Everyone assumes these meanings are clear, which is exactly the reason to ask.
These Notes follow both words to their roots and then out along the continuum, to the moment awareness ignites as yours. What arrived in the asking changed how I hold my whole journey.
The Question Never Asked
There are five questions I think of as the creative questions, the questions that open the creative aspect of anything. And the first question is always the same: What IS?.
Whatever the subject, the work begins by breaking the subject into its parts and making sure each part has actually been asked about. For the soul’s journey, the first questions become:
- What is soul, and
- What is journey?
Asking What is soul after years of personal study might seem like something for day one. Soul is a word used so many ways, through so many religious and spiritual traditions, that perhaps the specific meaning is known. So nobody asks. Which is exactly the reason to ask. Asking steps around the assumptions and looks with beginner’s mind, in the present moment, at what is actually here. When you ask, you get the opportunity to see whether something is there you had never considered.
